A Newborn Care Specialist/Doula’s Guide to Your Growing Family

Laura Ellis: Seattle , WA, United States; Hi Everyone! I’m Laura. I’m a certified Newborn Care Specialist and a certified Postpartum Doula. I have also trained as a Sleep Consultant, and I’m currently training as a Birthing Advocacy Doula. Supporting parents and growing families is definitely something that I truly care about, and I’m so fortunate to have a career that allows me to empower birthing parents as they are learning and growing themselves. I believe that parents intuitively know what’s best for their families, and I view my job as giving them nonjudgmental support as well as giving them scientifically backed information when they want it. I focus on overnight care and developing good sleep habits. As for who I am as a person, I’m pretty quiet and introverted. I’m a little bit of a goofball, but I’m completely comfortable with that. I love creating things—I love painting, crocheting, cooking, music, writing, etc.. I love being out in nature, and I love camping and hiking. I’m from the suburbs of Indianapolis and currently based out of Seattle. I’m very communication focused, and I would like to think that I’m a good listener—I’m the friend people call when they need to talk things out.
